YACHT EXPEDITIONS PROJECT MANAGER

We are excited to be looking for the latest addition to our expanding Yacht Expeditions team, based in our central London offices. This role would be suited to a creative, organised and detail-oriented person who thrives in a dynamic working environment and has a true passion for helping our clients to discover some of the world’s most interesting locations. Summary:

  • Working closely with brokers, captains and industry individuals to keep your finger on the yacht sector pulse
  • Planning and delivering extraordinary yacht expeditions and adventures in some of the most interesting and remote parts of the planet
  • Working directly with clients to ensure their needs are met and managing projects from inception to delivery and post-trip feedback
  • Working with a fast-moving, young, dynamic and highly motivated team

Core responsibilities

  • Yacht Expedition Planning: creating numerous options and ideas for clients to choose from.  Working closely with Captains, Agents, local authorities and subject matter experts from around the world and ensuring that each detail is thought through to deliver a world-class experience
  • Management: as member of the PELORUS Yachting team, reporting to HOD and prepared to work as a key part of a small project team. Ensure high standards of client and supplier communications are maintained
  • Logistics: Full responsibility for all project logistics, including itineraries, contingencies, safety procedures, equipment sourcing and ownership of all aspects of logistics and costing of trips. Ensuring all communications, safety procedures, permits, travel requirements and insurance are in place
  • Project finances: work with HOD to oversee all trip costing to ensure all aspects are covered including contingencies, invoices, payments to suppliers, consultants and relevant third parties
  • Content: jointly responsible for creating new content for the PELORUS website, ELEMENTS and industry publications by sourcing, researching, costing and writing up new sample itinerary trips to demonstrate the breadth of experiences offered by PELORUS to our clients

Essential Experience

  • Personal knowledge of the yachting sector, whether recreational or professional
  • Experience in logistics, equipment and expedition administration
  • Previous financial responsibility

Desirable Experience

  • Ex captain, senior crew
  • Good copy-writing skills
  • Design skills – Office and Web
  • Knowledge of route plotters
  • Expedition leader qualifications

  • Black book of relevant contacts worldwide
  • At least 2 years’ experience in the yachting sector and of planning trips or project management

BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & PARTNERSHIPS MANAGER

Mission

  • To build the PELORUS brand and significantly increase sales through successful partnerships and BD.

Brand Partnership Responsibilities

  • Creating and implementing a companywide partnerships strategy to build PELORUS into an industry-leading brand.
  • Working closely with directors and department heads to build partnerships
  • Overseeing and managing all current and future partnerships
  • Responsible for organising all brand partnership events to help brand exposure
  • Working with a fast-moving, young, dynamic and highly motivated team

Business Development Responsibilities

  • Identify, acquire and build a strong book of suitable clients for PELORUS.
  • Taking full responsibility for all Business Development related projects.
  • The driving force behind generating new sales leads and contacts
  • Following up on new business opportunities and setting up meetings
  • Working with Marketing in planning and preparing presentations and teasers
  • Communicating new product developments to prospective clients
  • Ensure that all client enquiries are followed up within the required timeframe
  • Negotiate terms of business and partnerships with 3rd parties
  • Maximising brand presence and identifying opportunities for brand enhancement across all channels (digital, print).
  • Identifying and evaluating press opportunities as well as opportunities for partnerships and sponsorships.
  • Conducting market research and analysis to evaluate trends, brand awareness and competition ventures.
  • Represent the organisation at key events (press events, launches etc.) to generate new leads.

Essential Experience

  • Experience of 7+ years in senior-level negotiation as a partnership, business development or key accounts manager
  • Established network of contacts in the premium / private travel and luxury sectors
  • Demonstrated history of generating revenue and meeting targets
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Impeccably organised and accurate in execution
  • Analytical mindset and digital proficiency
  • Experience of fast-pace environments that require laser-focused prioritisation

EDITORIAL INTERN

We are seeking an intern with a passion for travel and adventure journalism to work on our fast-growing online magazine Elements. From interviews with record-breaking explorers and yacht designers to gear round-ups and first-person travel features, we have a number of exciting projects in the pipeline for the right, enthusiastic candidate to get involved with. We are looking for someone who will hit the ground running – ideally someone who has experience in travel and is hugely excited about a future career in journalism. Tasks will include writing, editing, proofing, occasional press commitments, image sourcing, and copywriting for the website. You will be working at the PELORUS office in central London. Experience in photography and social media are a plus, but not requirements. Personal specification
