Nestled between a private beach and a freshwater lagoon, Anantara Al Baleed Resort Salalah is located in the southern province of Dhofar known for its tropical fruit plantations, ancient frankincense trail, World Heritage sites and beautiful mountains and deserts.
The resort is a homage to Oman’s rich heritage, celebrating everything Arabian (think towering palm trees, tropical gardens and flowing water features inspired by Salalah’s famed castles, artistry and coastlines).
The exterior is elegantly whitewashed and contrasts with the black interiors, with infinity pools and villas linked by a path of banana and coconut trees. A total of 96 villas (each with a private pool) and 40 rooms are elegantly finished in a natural décor with dark wood furnishings and traditional rich-coloured fabrics.
The restaurants are also some of the best in the area, with the different outlets taking you on a culinary journey all the way from the Mediterranean to Vietnam.
Fancy seeing the sights? From here, it’s easy to venture to nearby archaeological ruins, forts and fishing villages. Or, journey further afield into the mysterious Empty Quarter desert.
