On the coastal floodplains of Australia’s Top End, Bamurru Plains is an exclusive safari lodge with unique access to 300km² of floodplains, savanna woodland, and by the Mary River. On the edge of Kakadu National Park with an abundance of wildlife and habitats to explore, the lodge brings a taste of luxury to this endless wilderness.

The safari lodge is stylish and subtle, highlighting the natural wonders that surround it and bringing the atmosphere inside. There are 10 safari-style bungalows all overlooking the floodplain, with mesh walls on three sides so it feels as if you are truly camping out. The lodge has an infinity pool overlooking the savannah so you can enjoy nature’s stage show while cooling off. On safari, you will be fed delicious bush-tucker canapés and for evening meals dine with fellow guests. Make the most of the open bar and the delicious tastes of native dishes such as bush spices and plants, this is outback cuisine with a gourmet edge.
The building of the lodges and making a small number of them was done to minimise the impact on the sensitive environment
The bulk (75%) of the camp’s power is through 240 solar panels as is the hot water
All linen is supplied by EcoDownUnder and is organic cotton with no chemicals
Soaps for guests are produced locally and are chemical-free
Chemical containers are all reused
Bottles are recycled
Wherever possible they have used products that are local to the Top End of Australia in construction and what’s available for guests in the boutique
Educate guests on the conservation efforts of the lodge
For every guest that stays at the camp, a donation is made to the Australian Wildlife Conservancy
Why we love it
