Located on a private island on the Zambezi River, Sindabezi Island Camp is unique as it’s the only luxury bush camp from where Victoria Falls can easily be explored. Touted as the discerning traveller’s best-kept secret and one of the top 10 eco-lodges in Africa, this idyllic camp offers views across the flood plains of the Zambezi and into the nearby National Park.
During the day you can enjoy some of the best wildlife in the area (think outstanding birdlife and resident hippos), and at night return to this tranquil haven.
Blending into the Zambezi wilderness, there are just five tented chalets here, allowing guests to soak up the sights and sounds. Crafted from local timber, reed and thatch, each chalet is set on stilts and is open-fronted with a deck or terrace area overlooking the river.
For those staying in the chalet on the south side of the island, views sprawl across the Zambezi River to the Victoria Falls National Park where you can catch a glimpse of game – elephant, impala and wildebeest – quenching their thirst on the riverbanks. There are also two chalets on the north side and a further Honeymoon chalet on a secluded sandy shore at the end of the island.
The main camp area is set on the sand and is the ideal place to relax and unwind. There’s a boma with sofas, a bar and a dining area overlooking the vegetated sandbanks and the river. There is also a raised lounge area between two tree trunks offering spectacular views over the river. And for chilly evenings, there’s a roaring campfire.
