Design

Blending into the natural landscape of the hilltop, Singita Lebombo pushes the boundaries of safari style to opulence. Open-air lounging areas allow nature to merge with inside interiors, fusing the spaces together. Against the lush forest backdrop and serene Lebombo mountains, feel immersed in the beauty of the landscape amid contemporary luxury.

The expansive structures, filling the deluxe suites with light oozes respite in an organic environment. Rich materials of high-quality wood, steel and glass add earthly tones and soothing accents indoors. Palettes of taupe, creams and grey establish a bold and contemporary style to the natural look. Glass-walled bathrooms allow you to wash yourself with an eye on the natural world moving around you. The quiet serenity of sitting out on the veranda, perfect for practising morning yoga or a spot of nourishing meditation. Sleep out under the stars in a king-size bed on the wooden deck, mosquito netting included.

See something you like? The boutique shop filled with antiques from every corner of Africa enables you to relive your safari adventure from the comfort of your own home. Collectable sculptures, art prints, homeware and furnishings, as well as authentic carvings and jewellery by local craftsmen, are lavishly available. Take that bottle of organic Cape wine home with you. Worldwide shipping means there’s never more than you can carry.

Activities

Experiences of the South African countryside rarely get more personal than this. Game drives are tailor-made: responding to the individual guests’ needs, the professional field guide ensures no two drives are the same. A remote and wild region of Kruger, animal spotting and lion sightings are often unmatched in this gorgeous retreat. Track native animals on foot with the Guided Safari walks led by another expert in the field. From a wealth of experience, the guide shares anecdotes and tales of wild adventures.

Sustainability

Singita's enduring purpose is to restore the land, with most of the cost of each stay being reinvested into conservation. To this end and using aerial pictures from 1935 as a template, The Singita Lowveld Trust is dedicated to leaving the biodiversity of the land in an untouched state as possible. Additionally, Bioregional, the London-founded consultancy, advises Singita in creating more sustainable ways to live, work and do business.

Elsewhere, there is an anti-poaching unit which works to protect the beautifully rare rhino inhabitants, whilst all income from the Community Culinary School is reinvested into local projects supporting young people in disenfranchised communities.

Why we love it

Suspended over the N’wanetsi River, the Lemombo Lodge draws its architectural inspiration directly from the environment: the intricate but sturdy eagles’ nests integrated into the cliff face. Artistically designed to blend into the surrounding areas, you are as close as possible to nature without losing any of the bespoke luxury. Singita Lebombo strives on intertwining your wild safari experience with inside indulgence.
