Nestled in the vast Scottish Highlands at the edge of a sea loch, The Torridon is an idyllic country house with sweeping views of some of Scotland’s most spectacular scenery. Once a Victorian shooting lodge, it is now home to 18 individually designed rooms and suites that marry these Victorian-era features with Scottish heritage.

The hotel has an old-world charm with modern flair, and many of the rooms offer beguiling views across Loch Torridon and the majestic mountains beyond. For a special occasion, stay in one of the luxurious bedrooms in the main hotel, or opt for The Stables for something family-friendly. For something secluded, the private luxury cottage Boathouse is set on the edge of the loch and is the perfect romantic retreat.

From mountain biking and coasteering to sea kayaking and gorge scrambling, The Torridon is ideally situated for adventure. Spend an afternoon hiking up a munro to be rewarded with the most magnificent sunsets, before stargazing with an expert astronomer. There’s also a myriad of wildlife to be spotted (think otters, seals, and sea eagles) and, come October, you can expect to hear the bellows of stags embroiled in their annual rut from afar.

Sustainability

The Torridon utilises biomass energy that is sourced from local timber to safeguard biodiversity, chipping on-site to create fuel for the estate’s heating and water.
A flexible forestry plan is in place to enable the team to harvest and plant new trees throughout the year, and water is sourced from a borehole, including the drinking water that is bottled in reusable vessels on site.

All single-use plastics have been eliminated, all food waste is used as feed for the cows and pigs on the Torridon Farm, and they recycle or compost the majority of waste including glass, coffee grinds and shreddings.
The Torridon’s sustainability efforts have been recognised by the Carbon Trust, Green Tourism Business Scheme, NOW Force for Good Alliance and Earthcheck.
