Tuludi

Khwai Private Reserve, Botswana

Overview

Offering an iconic Okavango Delta experience, Tuludi is an enchanting treehouse-style lodge that captures the magic of this vast ecosystem.

Key Features

  • Overlooking a floodplain visited by elephants, impalas and giraffes, this sprawling seven-tent camp boasts spacious suites, private plunge pools, delicious food, and – most importantly – great wildlife encounters
  • To make the most of the time here, explore the varied landscape by myriad of means – from traversing on foot or a game drive to exploring by boat or mokoro (traditional canoe)

Location

Located in the Khwai Private Reserve within 200,000 hectares of pristine wilderness, Tuludi blends seamlessly with the environment. Taking its name from the Tswana word describing a leopard’s colours or markings, the camp is the ideal base from which to discover the reserve and its vast wilderness (think savannas, forests and the mighty Okavango Delta).

Not satisfied with staying in one famed reserve? Well Tuludi offers you three: as well as the Khwai Private Reserve, the property is bordered by the world-famous Moremi Game Reserve to the south and the vast Chobe National Park to the east. And it’s thanks to this sprawling, varied landscape that there’s such a huge array of wildlife, with large herds of plains game (giraffe, antelope, zebra) living alongside predators (leopard, cheetah, lion and wild dog).

Design

Comprising just seven tented suites all connected by wooden boardwalks, the accommodation offered by Tuludi captures the magic of the surrounding nature. The earthy colour palette has been paired with authentic décor, sophisticatedly marrying the contemporary and the traditional for a down-to-earth yet luxurious experience.

With separate dressing and sleeping areas, an ensuite bathroom, indoor and outdoor showers as well as spacious bathtubs from which to soak in the surrounds, there’s an abundance of space for you and your brood. But, if that’s not enough, there’s also an outside veranda boasting a sunken seating area and plunge pool.

Sustainability

Be part of conservation in action: the Khwai Private Reserve is a private concession from which proceeds go straight back into the eco-tourism initiatives of the area and to the surrounding communities. When you visit Tuludi, you will be directly supporting Natural Selection’s conservation initiatives which include supporting local villages, anti-poaching and animal surveying

Why we love it

Enjoy a slower pace of life on a walking safari or drift through the Delta on a mokoro, keeping an eye out for the wildlife wandering nearby. Or, for exhilarating close-up encounters with the wildlife that call this location their home, a game drive will get you out covering more ground.
