Design

One hundred miles from the nearest road, Ultima Thule Lodge is a place beyond civilisation providing access only through private chartered bush planes.

The main lodge houses the dining room, open kitchen where there is a permanent smell of freshly baked bread, and a living room with floor-to-ceiling windows looking out over the Chitina River and mountains to the south. Meals are a family occasion at Ultima with guests swapping adventure stories over the freshest Alaskan ingredients, including wild salmon caught that very day and organic vegetables from the kitchen garden. For a more intimate experience, enjoy elevated cuisine at your personal cabin.

Cabins

The cabins look as if they have been plucked out of a fairy-tale. Made with vibrant red roof’s and logs, the wild charm gives way to supreme comfort and an over-stuffed king-sized feather bed, smothered in furs and blankets. After a day walking out in the pristine environment, unwind in the log sauna and hot tub, under the midnight sun and reenergise for another day exploring the unknown.

Sustainability

By growing their own fresh produce and responsibly catching the fish and game, you can experience a sustainable lifestyle rooted in the land. Adhering to the 'leave no trace' standard, they demonstrate a deep respect for the native wildlife and flora. Furthermore, as an accredited member of TAP (Travellers Against Plastic), they underscore their dedication to minimising plastic usage.

Why we love it

With their own fleet of planes and steeped in aviation history the best way to get far out is by flying. Spend a whole day without seeing another soul in one of the most remote corners of the earth and then fly back to the lodge, skimming across glacial lakes and over awe-inspiring mountains so untouched they remain nameless.
