Sustainability

Zapata Ranch works closely with conservation organisations including The Nature Conservancy, Colorado Parks and Wildlife, the Natural Resources Conservation Service, Bird Conservancy of the Rockies and the Colorado State Land Board. The ranch is home to a conservation herd of bison and cows and runs conservation projects aimed at restoring the vegetative and wildlife ecologies. These projects include providing habitat for endangered species, controlling erosion, managing exotic weed encroachment and promoting resident wild game herds.

Conservation

With ethos deeply routed in conservation, Zapata works to protect the landscape, wildlife and local people of the ranch lands. Managed by The Nature Conservancy, the 50,000-acre pasture is home to a large herd of bison, as well as, several rare plant species.
