Experience Highlights

  • Heli-ski the second-highest mountain range in the world
  • Surf the iconic point-break of Punta de Lobos
  • Visit prestigious family-owned vineyards
  • Surf alongside world-champion surfing legend Ramón Navarro

By combining two of these geographically striking regions, witness first-hand the diverse topography of this unique South American country, where a short helicopter ride can showcase huge valleys, mountain lakes and hot springs all the way to rugged shores and beaches stretching up the vast coastline.

High-altitude thrills

Begin your journey at El Morado Lodge, located at the highest point of the Maipo River Valley and at the base of the San Jose Volcano, seamlessly blending into its surroundings. With a helicopter and pilot at your disposal for the week, a 10-minute flight will see you reach the first of the ski runs where you will meet your guides, both of whom have over 25 years of experience in mountain skiing.

Experience the full magic of this indomitable mountain range – the second highest in the world – with excellent mid-winter powder and extensive backcountry areas creating the ultimate skier’s paradise, but without the crowds.

Waves and wine

From here, travel to a private ski lodge in the more southern section of Curico. Continuing your mountain exploration, you’ll edge closer to the coastal area of Pichilemu where the iconic point-break of Punta de Lobos beckons. Here, there is complete flexibility to decide whether your days will be spent skiing, surfing, or both, keeping an eye on the conditions and the feeling of the day. Venture further into the heart of this region as you uncover a different side to it.

One for the oenophiles, Curico Valley is known for producing some of the most prestigious Chilean wines, so visit family-owned vineyards for tastings as you weave your way across the land on horseback or bicycle. Or, meet with locals for an epic horse-riding and culinary experience out in the field, learning about their traditions and way of life.

Catching swells

As the big waves come in, head for the ocean where you will have the opportunity to surf alongside world-champion surfing legend, Ramón Navarro. An ambassador for Patagonia, an outdoor clothing retailer, and Save The Waves, a California-based coalition that focuses on coastal conservation issues around the world, he is a globally renowned big wave surfer and a local resident.

Thanks to Ramón’s dedication and activism, the area of Punta de Lobos has been put into a land trust safeguarding it from future development, while protecting the marine and ecological biodiversity, surf resources and the local community’s traditional fishing rights, resulting in one of the world’s most spectacular surfing reserves.

Here, you will stay at Hotel Alaia, ideally located on the northern coast right in front of the point break. Along with getting out into the waves, there is a whole host of other outdoor activities to enjoy, from boat tours and kite surfing to guided hikes, culminating in a freshly prepared seafood dinner on the beach and a delicious Pisco Sour in hand to end the day.
