Location

Located on the Olderkesi Conservancy, bordering the legendary Maasai Mara National Reserve, this award-winning camp harks back to safaris from a bygone era. Owned and managed by the oldest established and continuing safari family in Africa, they have managed to retain this authentic safari essence, captivating guests from the moment of arrival.

Cottar's 1920's Camp

There are 11 spacious tents here, all sumptuously furnished with campaign antiques, four-poster beds, ensuite bathrooms and outdoor verandas (enjoy a traditional canvas safari bath outside with views over the plains). While feeling decidedly 1920s in style (and name), there are still all the amenities today’s modern travelers would expect.

The camp has two main mess tents for dining, drinking, and relaxing. There’s also a pool and spa area to unwind after a game drive or cool off from the heat of the African sun.

Cottar's Bush Villa

Also on site is Cottar’s Bush Villa, sleeping up to 12 guests across five ensuite bedrooms that are tastefully decorated with rich wood and furnishings that provide a sense of place. Offering an abundance of space, a private swimming pool, and wildlife in spades, there is a dedicated team of staff here, as well as a private game drive vehicle and guide to help you explore your surroundings. This is truly the most exclusive and luxurious villa in the heart of Kenya’s wilderness.

What makes this property unique?

The guides at Cottar’s are incredible, and some have become industry leaders after being with Cottar’s for decades. Offering unforgettable forays into the bush, embark on one-of-a-kind day and night game drives (for those visiting in July to September, marvel at the great annual wildebeest migration), encounter the iconic Big Five, or spend an afternoon interacting with the local Maasai community.
