Location

This historic lodge sits prettily on the lush green banks of the mighty Waikato River, just upstream from the dramatic Huka Falls, and within 17 acres of manicured grounds. Walking into Huka Lodge feels like walking into the country dwelling of a glamorous relative. Communal areas are adorned with antiques and furnishings collected from around the world. The colour scheme is largely neutral and calming, with rich deep green and blue accents and tartan referencing New Zealand’s close relationship to Scotland as well as the lodge’s original sporting purpose: fishing.

Residences

There are 20 guest suites here, elegantly decorated in muted tones and wooden panelling, opening out onto patios that make the most of the spectacular location.

For those looking for a little more privacy, there are two additional owners' residences, the Alan Pye Cottage and Alex van Heeren Cottage. These two cottages are perfect venues for gatherings of friends and family and can be found dotted along the banks of the Waikato River. Both offer private pools and verdant gardens as well as dramatic river views.

Cuisine

Huka Lodge’s dining options are exceptional. A daily-changing menu champions stand-out local produce and is complemented by a vast wine cellar of premium vintages. Choose to dine in the restaurant in the company of sparkling river views, in the subterranean wine cellar, or in one of the many charming outdoor alcoves dotted around the gardens.
