Design

This unique design hotel is set right on the water, so guests can watch the fishing boats in action from the hotel and then head straight out onto the cobbled streets to explore the colourful old town, which was rebuilt in an Art Nouveau style in 1904 and is spread across several small islands.

The hotel and its suites, some of which are tucked away in the loft with clean, rustic furnishings and sky-facing windows, are decorated with a modern feel that stays true to an authentic history. This building was once at the heart of this traditional Nordic fishing town. Delicate interior design meets sophisticated artwork and antique touches, and suites also boast stunning views of the sea or the cobbled streets.



Culinary Experience

The restaurant is central to this intimate, family-owned hotel. A popular spot for the locals, delight in a relaxed meal with friends with a menu inspired by traditional dishes from the Sunnmøre region, featuring the catch of the day and other local produce. Or take a helicopter to a secluded island to savour a private meal based on local seafood as you take in incredible views of the open sea.

The quaint bakery at the front of the hotel offers fresh local coffee and Nordic baked goods to fuel you up for your day ahead, kayaking through the town, hiking nearby mountains, sightseeing in the fjords or embarking on a wildlife sea safari. Arrive home to the hotel to spend your evenings enjoying delicious food, selecting from the menu of drinks and tastings at the sophisticated bar, and resting by the fire. The hotel hosts regular evenings to promote local talents with acoustic concerts and other live music. 

Sustainability

The restaurant focuses on traditional, local dishes with produce sourced in Ålesund or the surrounding areas and ocean. The bakery also produces fresh, locally sourced produce, all of which comes from certified sustainable suppliers. The accommodation is passionate about retaining its history and the original purpose of the buildings and actively contributes to the local community, supporting organisations and events in the surrounding area.
