Spot elusive snow leopards in the Himalayas

In a landscape characterised by jagged peaks and snow-clad horizons, venture in search of the snow leopard, otherwise known as the grey ghost, with a local expert for a truly unique and personal encounter with these intriguing creatures.

When to go: December – March

- Your journey begins in Leh, a town 3,505 metres above sea level. You will spend two days here to acclimatize to the altitude, taking the time to explore the historical monuments and spend time with monks in the Buddhist monasteries. You can also visit the pristine white Shanti Stupa that overlooks the city and the 17th century Leh Palace

- Walk to Sankar Gompa, a richly painted monastery with a beatific atmosphere set on top of a hill. Over 100 volumes of Buddha’s teachings are located on the front balcony and inside there is a plethora of amazing sculptures and statues

- Transfer to Ulley Valley, your base for the next four days as you go in search of the elusive snow leopard

- Expert spotters will take you to the optimum areas to be in with a chance of seeing these majestic creatures in their habitat
