Spot elusive snow leopards in the Himalayas

In a landscape characterised by jagged peaks and snow clad horizons, venture in search of the snow leopard, otherwise known as the grey ghost, with a local expert for a truly unique and personal encounter with these intriguing creatures.
When to go:
December – March
Your journey begins in Leh, a town 3,505 metres above sea level, where you will spend two days acclimatizing to the altitude whilst taking the time to explore the historical monuments and spend time with monks in the Buddhist monasteries. You can also visit the pristine white Shanti Stupa that overlooks the city and the 17th century Leh Palace.

Walk to Sankar Gompa, a richly painted monastery with a beatific atmosphere perched atop a towering peak. Over 100 volumes of Buddhist teachings are located on the front balcony and inside there is a plethora of amazing sculptures and statues. The monastery is brimming with history and is the perfect peaceful experience.

Transfer to Ulley Valley, your base for the next four days as you go in search of the elusive snow leopard. Alongside expert spotters, you will go in search of these majestic creatures, following their elusive tracks as they traverse the snow rugged mountain ridges. With their powerful build and agility, this enables the snow leopards to leap six times the length of their bodies, a truly breath-taking sight.
