Off-roading in Northern Namibia
A 4×4 road trip is one of the most compelling ways to experience a new country: you’re free to stop where you want, when you want; free to move at your own pace; and as you move from one place to another you’re able to watch the landscape and culture changing around you. In this itinerary, you’ll head deep into the wilderness of one of the most exciting destinations of the moment, Namibia; a country seemingly built with road trips in mind.
Landing into the north of the country, the keys to a Land Rover Defender will be waiting for you. You’ll head straight into Etosha National Park to experience the myriad game species, opting to either camp in the elements or stop off at a luxury lodge. From here you’ll drive north into the pristine wilderness of Damaraland, on roads peppered with potholes and sand tracks that will test your 4×4 skills. You’ll spend time with the Himba tribe, search for desert rhinos and elephants – some of the wildest wildlife populations on Earth – and forge through vast, otherworldly landscapes.
You’ll head further and further into the remote lands of Kaokoland, eventually reaching a stunning camp on the Kunene River on the border with Angola. It doesn’t get much more secluded than this – a mesmerising conclusion to your Namibian road trip.
