Travel doesn’t always require an itinerary. There is great pleasure to be found in the element of surprise, in not knowing what is over the horizon, or what the next day holds in store. It’s impossible to know how you’ll react to an unknown environment until you’re dropped into one, with little else bar a handful of instructions, a map and the essential equipment. This is you pitting your skills against wilderness in the ultimate escape from the helter-skelter of 21st-century life.
To quote Jon Krakauer, author of Into the Wild, the joy of life comes from our encounters with new experiences, for each day to have a new and different sun. This adventure into the unknown – whether in British Columbia, Patagonia, Norway or Kenya – will be like nothing you’ve experienced before. Each day will offer something different and far-reaching in its level of creativity and originality.
This is how it works:
STEP 1 – Following up on your interest, we will arrange a face-to-face meeting between you and a member of our Special Projects team. You will discuss what it is you’re hoping to get out of your experience, when you want to go, and consider which unknown environment you’d like to be dropped into: desert, polar, jungle, mountains or coastal.
STEP 2 – That’s your part done. The rest is down to our Special Projects team. They will create an experience, with the assistance of international contacts, to surprise and challenge you at every turn.
STEP 3 – You will be given a packing list and a time to head to a nearby airport, where you will be met by someone with your plane ticket. This is where the experience begins…
STEP 4 – Our on-the-ground team will ensure the smooth running and safety of your Unknown experience. You will not be aware of their presence, but these skilled experts are able to react to any unforeseen eventually within the most remote and unpredictable regions on Earth.
(Unknown Projects can also be incorporated as an inclusion within an experience, rather than for the whole duration.)
