Number one unforgettable travel experience?

Travelling to Syria in 2009 with a group of friends. It was a truly incredible experience – from seeing the beautiful old medina of Aleppo and wandering through the souqs of Damascus to exploring the stunning ruins of Palmyra and the famous crusader castle Cras des Chaveliers. So many places we visited have now sadly been destroyed but I feel so fortunate to have seen such a beautiful country before the current ongoing war; so rich in history and culture and incredible landscapes.

Top of your travel bucket list?

Horse riding on Iceland’s black sand beaches, hiking and paragliding in the Dolomites and exploring Gabon’s untouched wilderness.

Who is your ultimate travel partner?

A very unoriginal answer but: my husband. We have a very similar idea of what the perfect holiday is: exploring a new destination through being active (hiking/biking/riding) coupled with seeing the top cultural highlights of a place. Ideally, we also have some time to relax in the sun with an excellent book. He’s also a big foodie too, so we love finding the best local restaurants or fun little cocktail bars while travelling.
