Head of United States

Leah Mayo

Leah started her career in non-profit and government, spending over a decade with the UK’s Department for International Trade supporting US and UK companies in international expansion and business development. While there, she honed her travel planning which inspired her to found and lead a travel technology company for vacation rental properties. At Pelorus, she’s able to merge her knowledge of business and passion of travel into supporting US growth.

Leah attended the University of Texas at Austin for her undergrad, and has a graduate degree from the London School of Economics. In her spare time she advises early stage startups in the hospitality industry. She is currently studying for her Executive MBA at Cambridge, and she hopes to get back to her hobbies of hiking, skiing, and exploring new restaurants once she graduates.

Number one unforgettable travel experience?

Traveling to a small village in India to attend the week-long wedding festivities of a dear friend. It was incredible to be invited into the family and participate in all the customs and traditions, including doing our own (American) dance at the sangeet. We ate delicious homemade food that was hotter than I though food could get, danced our hearts out, and met so many wonderful people who ended up becoming friends.

Top of your travel bucket list?

Definitely Mongolia. I’ve been interested in traveling there since I saw a travel show about it in 2000! I’d love to explore the vast and barren landscapes and take in some of the festivals.

Who is your ultimate travel partner?

I would have loved to have had the opportunity to travel with Anthony Bourdain. His approach to food and drink through the eyes of locals, those who know it best, changed the way I travel.
